Symptoms of gout
The hallmark, or major trait of this disease is swelling, redness and severe pain in the big toe. It is however possible that this disease manifests itself with swelling and other pain in the joints, such as the ankle or knee. Acute attacks of gout occur quickly and all at once in the joint. These attacks cause heat, inflammation, redness, and pain in the joint. In a gout attack, this joint suddenly becomes swollen and painful and the skin on it becomes red and shiny. The skin may be a little scaly on the joint and sometimes itching may occur in the joint. Many of these attacks start at night and wake the patient. The joint becomes so painful and sensitive that contact of the blanket with the skin of the thumb can also be painful. Sometimes the patient has a fever during a gout attack. These gout attacks are usually with or without the drug subsides after a few hours to a few days. The patient's symptoms may rarely last for several weeks. After the symptoms subside, the patient later develops other attacks, which recur over the years.
The following symptoms are seen in the joints :
- Very severe pain
- Redness
- Fever in the joint area
- Inflammation
In the joint area affected by the gout attack, the skin looks shiny and a layer of skin may be removed.
A gout attack usually occurs on the big toe when the night affects. The symptoms spread rapidly and reach their worst within 12 to 24 hours of seeing the first symptoms. Any gentle contact with the joint is very painful. Even the weight of the sheets or socks becomes unbearable.
Symptoms of Gout is often found on the big toe, but other joints that may be affected include:
- • Joints of the legs
- • Ankle
- • The knees
- • Elbows
- • Wrist
- • fingers
Some people develop gout as a painful attack, they do not experience. They have gout almost all the time (chronic gout). Current_Gout in the elderly may be less painful and may be confused with other types of arthritis.
Gingivitis can lead to inflammation of the fluid sacs (bursae) in the form of soft tissue, especially in the elbows (elbow bursae) and knees (pre-patellar bursitis).

Causes of Gout (Part 2)
Gout is caused by high levels of uric acid in the blood or hyperuricemia. Uric_acetic acid is produced in the body due to the breakdown of purine - a chemical found in large amounts in foods such as meat, poultry and seafood. Uric acid is usually dissolved in the blood and excreted in the urine through the kidneys. If too much uric acid is produced or enough is excreted, it will cause the accumulation of needle-shaped crystals, resulting in inflammation and pain between and around the joints.
Gout is initially caused by a combination of factors that can affect blood urate levels:
Genes: Having kidneys that do not have the ability to effectively excrete urate. Being overweight and obesity: The bigger and fatter your body is, the more urate it produces daily, so if you are overweight or obese, your body probably produces more urate that not all of it can excrete. Secondary cancer
In cases where the reasons are known, if you have one of the following factors, the kidneys will not be able to excrete urate:
- 1. Blood lipids (high cholesterol and blood lipids)
- 2. High blood pressure
- 3. Type 2 diabetes
- 4. Kidney disease in which the kidneys are unable to excrete blood urate effectively
- 5. Some pills such as diuretics (water pills)
Metabolic syndrome: The combination of the three problems is high and is commonly known as metabolic syndrome and increases blood urate levels.
A rare chronic blood disorder that causes the blood to produce large numbers of blood cells. The level of urate produced by the breakdown and breakdown of these cells may be high.
Stimulus factors for Gout attacks :
If you are prone to gout and urate crystals have accumulated in your joints, various factors can cause urate crystals to move out of the cartilage, which can lead to an acute attack of gout. These include:
- • An injury or injury to the affected joint
- • A disease such as pneumonia or the flu that causes fever.
- • An action - which raises the body temperature.
- • Overeating and drinking too much alcohol
- • dehydration
- • False anxiety

Causes of Gout
Factors that can cause or influence gout include :
- • Being overweight and obesity (overweight especially at a young age)
- • alcohol consumption
- • hypertension
- • Kidney dysfunction
- • Bodily injuries
- • Recent surgery
- • Dehydration
- • Fever
- • Treatment Certain medications
These factors can, increase the risk of gout and the progression of gout.
The big toe joint is the most common site for gout attacks. Other joints such as the ankle, knee, elbow and other toe joints can also develop gout. Although most high uric acid in the blood is not a sign of the disease and many people with high uric acid do not get the disease, gout is caused by high levels of uric acid in the blood.
Gout occurs in people who have high levels of urate in their blood for a long time and cause urate crystals to form. About two-thirds of the urate in our body comes from the breakdown and breakdown of purines that are naturally present in the body's cells. The remaining one-third of purine breakdown occurs in some foods and beverages.
Some of the factors that cause these crystals to form are:
- 1. Obesity
- 2. Alcohol consumption
- 3. High consumption of foods containing uric acid including red meat, by-products, gypsy fish, herring, asparagus and mushrooms
- 4. Certain diseases, including untreated high blood pressure, chronic diseases such as diabetes, high blood fats or cholesterol, and narrowing of the arteries, can also increase the risk of gout.
- 5. Some medications include diuretics (used to treat high blood pressure), aspirin, and medications for people who have had an organ transplant they are given, they are prescribed.
- 6. Family history
- 7. Age and gender.
Gout is more common in men than women.
Chronic tuberculous gout causes a sudden attack of inflation. Crystal accumulation can cause tofu to form in and around the joint. This hard tofu can grow and cause pressure and damage to cartilage and bone. This injury is exactly the same as the injuries caused by arthritis.
Can cause daily and regular pain when using the affected joint. Some tofu is easily visible under the skin (the invisible part of the tofu is usually fully extended in your joints and lower tissues).

Gout : Disease of the rich people
Gout is a type of inflammation that is caused by an increase in uric acid in the blood. Some of the factors that increase uric acid are :
High intake of foods containing the amino acid "purine" Increased consumption of high-protein foods, such as meat.
Uric acid is actually a waste of metabolism and protein burning in the body. Sometimes due to high production of this substance in the body or inability of the kidneys to excrete it, this substance accumulates abnormally in body fluids and settles in the form of crystals in the joints, causing redness, swelling and warming, pain and inflammation.
The deposition of uric acid crystals in the body stimulates immune cells and subsequently causes inflammation and joint pain. The formation of uric acid crystals in the joint (mostly in the big toe, heel, ankle, knee and elbow) causes the immune cells to consider them invasive and eat them.
These cells then secrete special chemicals called prostaglandins and leukotrienes, which cause symptoms of inflammation in the joint (pain and swelling).
Attacks of pain and swelling of the big toe joint in gout are usually nocturnal. During the day, due to the standing position of the body, a lot of interstitial fluid accumulates in the lower limbs, especially the lower parts, ie the legs. At night, when the patient lies down and becomes horizontal, this interstitial fluid returns to the bloodstream. In this return, fluids return to the bloodstream earlier than uric acid and as a result Uric acid builds up in the foot_articles and because the foot gets colder at night, this cold helps to deposit uric acid crystals in the foot joint. As a result, joint pain attacks and swelling are more common at night.
Gout pain can wake you up at night with severe toe pain and a feeling that your big toe is on fire. Joint affected; It is hot, swollen and so sensitive that even the weight of the bedding puts pressure and pain on it.

Treatment of pain of cervical origin
The most common types of mild to moderate neck pain usually respond well to self-care within two or three weeks, where you may consider resting and not pushing yourself too hard. I highly recommend to avoid malpositioning , cold weather and carrying heavy objects .
However if neck pain persists, your doctor might recommend other treatments :
- • Medications : Your doctor might prescribe stronger over-the-counter pain medicine
- • Physical therapy : A physical therapist can teach you correct posture, alignment and neck-strengthening exercises.
- • You can use heat, ice, electrical stimulation and other measures
- • Traction : Traction uses weights, pulleys or an air bladder to gently stretch your neck. Some osteopathy techniques are very useful in doing a cervical traction.
- • Short term immobilization by a cervical collar is recommended in some problems such as cervical roots compression due to a herniated disk .
